EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Lead with vision. Inspire change. Empower independence. The Ability Center, a Center for Independent Living (CIL), is on a mission to build the most disability-friendly community in the nation. As a CIL, we operate with a unique philosophy of consumer control, where individuals with all types of disabilities directly govern and staff the organization. For over a hundred years, we’ve empowered people with disabilities to achieve greater independence, pursue their passions, and transform how society views disability.
We’re seeking an Executive Director who is a collaborative, visionary leader passionate about fostering equity, inclusion, and systemic change for people with disabilities.
About the Role: As Executive Director, you will guide a mission-driven organization with 50+ staff and a $6.5M annual budget. With a solid financial foundation and diverse funding streams, you'll have the opportunity to sustain current programs while driving future growth.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead strategic planning and ensure mission alignment.
· Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture.
· Advocate and serve as the organization’s public face.
· Oversee financial management and resource development.
· Support Board governance and policy development.
· Cultivate partnerships to expand impact and sustainability.
Your Qualifications:
· 7+ years of leadership experience (nonprofit/disability advocacy preferred).
· Strong expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and resource development.
· Proven success in working with Boards/governance.
· Exceptional communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
· Bachelor's degree required; master’s preferred.
· Commitment to disability advocacy and equity.
Compensation & Benefits
Commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, the salary range for the position is $140,000 to $175,000 annually. The Ability Center offers a comprehensive benefit package including a 401k plan with company match, health benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, LTD, AD&D, and paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
