Job Overview
The Community Development Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the Credit Union’s community development programs at the corporate, regional, and branch levels.
Major Responsibilities
- Acts as the official ABNB corporate liaison for major/regional community and corporate sponsorships, including Fest Events, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, and CHKD. Consistently looks for ways to increase ABNB’s brand awareness and connections to businesses and residents in the communities we serve.
- Shares ABNB’s value proposition and commitment to the community via all branches and the unique communities/neighborhoods they serve through outreach events, community meetings, non profit organizations, and advertising opportunities. Provides strategy, planning, and training to branch management/staff in achieving community development goals.
- Manages the Credit Union’s brand in relation to all community development efforts, advertisements, functions, events, etc.
- Organizes, coordinates and hosts financial literacy training programs and financial workshops in relation to the promotion of Credit Union’s ancillary services.
- Seeks opportunities to develop new consumer and business relationships for ABNB and refer to ancillary managers.
Position Requirements
- Three to five years of similar or related experience.
- Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field)
- Strong interpersonal skills – work involves extensive contact with others.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills including group facilitation experience.
- Thorough knowledge of financial institutions, sales, products, and services is required.
- Analytical abilities to make decisions and resolve problems required.
- Professionalism in appearance, dress, and attitude is a must.
- Possess a valid driver’s license – reliable transportation required.
- Ability to sit at a computer or stand to facilitate for extended periods of time and to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
