Unified Communications Architect
The Unified Communications Architect develops a technical architecture to support voice and video communication functions, is accountable for the overall performance, standards, and direction of the architecture within the unified communications environment. This role also serves as a consultant to other members of the telecommunications and networking teams. This position ensures administered technical architectures are based on best practice standards and processes, meets the strategic needs of the organization, and integrates fully with business and IT processes. Establishes and maintains roadmaps for specific business, information, application and/or technology areas as it relates to unified communications and networking. This role is also responsible for identifying and designing enhancements to the voice and video communication environment that will enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, and enhance the educational and care delivery mission of the University. Additionally, the individual in this role drafts standards, evaluates new technologies and or service providers, performs industry research, participates in architectural review committees, develops and conducts pre-production test plans, proposes policies, performs integration testing, implements industry best practices, interacts with industry counterparts and UT customers to make technical recommendations that support the business objectives of the organization.
Qualifications:
Required -- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area of study (i.e. Computer Science, Electronics, Information Systems, etc.) is required. Other areas of study will be considered with relevant experience. -- Five years of demonstrated experience in the administration, management, and design of various communications systems or equivalents components including Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express,Cisco Unity Connection, Microsoft Office 365, call rating software, West E911, Eleveo Zoom telephone call recording, Singlewire InformaCast mass notification, Webex conferencing systems, RightFax faxing, and Ribbon Session Border Controllers. -- Five years of experience in dial plan design and PSTN routing including management of SIP peering relationships with various tier 1 providers using enterprise grade session border controller technologies. -- Architectural data flow understating of the overall telecommunications billing environment including all data feeds and appropriate content. -- Three years of expert level skill in the design, validation, and implementation of quality of service (QoS) functions in various network and telecommunication hardware platforms. -- Five years of experience in troubleshooting complex IP telephony and video deployments in an enterprise setting. -- Expert level understanding of TCP/IP and SIP protocol behaviors, anomalies, and implementations. -- Five years of experience in documenting complex enterprise voice, video, and data networks utilizing tools such as MS Visio. -- Five years of experience managing large scale unified communications system projects. -- Five years of creating and maintaining stakeholder relationships is essential. -- Valid driver's license is required.
Preferred or Beneficial -- Three years of performance management experience utilizing voice and data monitoring tools. -- Three years of experience in the design and deployment of Cisco video solutions or equivalent in an enterprise environment. Communication and other skills -- Ability to collaboratively work with a broad range of constituencies and vendors is essential. -- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required. -- Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills is required. -- Ability to construct and maintain projects using MS Project online tools is required.
