Senior Accountant
Summary:
Responsible for the general accounting functions to include preparing journal entries, Supporting POS system, maintaining balance sheet schedules and assisting with monthly reconciliations. Analyze expenses to forecast and budget, setup of financial reports and assists with monthly closings and account analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare journal entries
- Complete general ledger operations
- Process monthly closings and prepare monthly financial statements
- Monitor and trend actual SG&A expenses to forecast (selling, general & administration)
- Develop and maintain chart of accounts, departments, operating units and reporting trees
- Develop and maintain financial reporting
- Develop and maintain financial databases for reporting packages
- Analyze the effect of financial transactions from process/system changes
- Assist with daily/weekly/monthly processes of reconciling POS system, balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations
- Assist with financial and bank audits required during the year
- Collect and analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems

Education and/or Experience:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree (BA) in accounting, finance or business management, with one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required: Associate's degree (AA) in accounting, finance or business management with three or more years related experience or and equivalent combination of education and experience. A working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, finance principles, financial reporting and technical accounting skills.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, auditors and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Must be proficient in performing detailed numerical computations. Advanced knowledge of Excel with the ability to set up worksheets for analysis and reporting.
Computer Skills:
Must possess an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically excel with the ability to set up worksheets for analysis and reporting. Also, needs a proficiency in relevant accounting software.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
