Staff Accountant
General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate professional work assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the Associations' financial records, entering revenue information into computer system, verifying and reconciling assigned accounts, and other financial accounts, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Insurance Accounting & Finance Director.

Position Responsibilities
Data Management & Analysis
Enters a variety of data into the Association's general ledger; verifies statistical and other records for accuracy and completeness; enters and retrieves sensitive and restricted information into computer; prepares and maintains associated files and records; prepares and disseminates various financial reports including but not limited to quarterly financial statements.
Records deposits, invoice information, and cash, including operating and claims accounts, receivable, payable accounts, paid claims, salvage/subrogation and deductibles; reconciles contribution and audited premiums on a quarterly basis.
Records and reconciles unit accounts on a quarterly basis
Calculates sponsorship fees to ACCG quarterly; records and reconciles monthly investment activity; assists with quarterly reports for insurance operations.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting, finance, insurance/risk management, or related field, and
Intermediate (typically 3-5 years) progressive work experience in which exposure was gained in various functions of corporate accounting; preferably in an insurance related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of and experience working performing work tasks in the full cycle of accounting: including preparing and recording entries, reconciling accounts and preparing financials.
General knowledge of insurance accounting principles, practices, rules and regulations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Thorough knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, procedures and equipment; ability to prepare complete accurate reports from various accounting data.
Skill to write memos to file detailing accounting issues that clearly define an issue, analysis performed, and conclusion reached.
Skill in the use Microsoft Office products, including Outlook and Word. Skill to perform vlookup, pivot tables and enhanced data management and manipulation in Excel.
Ability to execute deductive reasoning and independent problem-solving skills, understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to establish and follow work procedures.
Special Requirements
Valid driver's license in the State of Georgia.
