Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Assistant V.P. for Human Resources, the Payroll Administrator will have direct responsibility for the monthly payroll for full and part-time faculty and administrative staff. The Payroll Manager will also assist in processing student and biweekly staff payrolls as needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The following outlines the essential functions of the position and is not to be considered a detailed description of all duties inherent in the position.
-Processes Monthly payroll for faculty and administrative staff.
-Prepares Journal Entries for tax entries, payroll adjustments, TIAA entries, and benefit invoices.
-Directs Year-End duties connected to closing 4 payrolls.
-Directs preparation of payrolls for start of each year.
-Oversees direction of compliance with Ohio Escheat Laws.
-Co-ordinates faculty-benefit information with Provost's Office.
-Reconciles and pays state unemployment, TIAA, and other benefits for the University.
-Co-ordinates compliance with Federal Wage and Hour requirements.
-Manages supplemental life insurance program.
-Responsible for annual on-line directory update process.
-Coordinates coding systems in payroll computer applications.
-Reviews all ADP invoices for charges incurred.
-Oversees process of annual increases for staff and administration.
-Oversees non-resident alien/employee requirements.
-Reviews, audits and maintains sick and vacation accruals/reports.
-Develops reports off multiple reporting systems for all three payrolls.
-Provides IT support to Payroll and Human Resources.
-Database Administrator - Keeps payroll software up to date.
-Serves as member of Data Governance Team and other university committees.
Qualifications:
-Minimum of five (5) years of experience in directly processing payroll for an organization with several hundred employees, preferably in higher education or in a not-for-profit setting.
-Must have experience in using ADP payroll services.
-Prefer ADP Workforce Now Certified Payroll Specialist
-Must be able to meet firm deadlines.
-Must engage in ongoing professional development/current tax legislation.
-Experience with payroll tax requirements/business accounting requirements.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong research and computer skills.
-Strong customer service skills.
-Knowledge of and ability to analyze multiple hardware and software applications.
-Must have report writing and generating skills.

-Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment
-Limited physical effort required
-Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks
Compensation:
