Assistant Director/Clinical Director
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to manage and assess the department’s clinical service demands and delivery system, serve as a member of the administrative leadership team, and provide direct clinical services and supervision. This position will also supervise professional staff within the department.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
Supervise clinical staff not reporting directly to director
- Direct the work of staff reporting to this position
- Conduct annual and semi-annual performance evaluations
- Develop strategies to resolve issues negatively impacting performance of staff reporting to this position
- Advocate for the personnel needs of staff reporting to this position
- Approve leave requests for staff reporting to this position
Develop and train staff on clinical policy and procedures including:
- Privacy and confidentiality
- Crisis management
- Clinical documentation guidelines and timelines
- Mental health ethics and law
- Quality assurance protocols
Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed staff/trainees
Provide direct clinical services including:
- Individual, group, and couples therapy
- Clinical consultation
- Crisis intervention/management
- Walk-in assessment
- After hours on-call consultation
Assist director in providing leadership for the department including:
- Manage and assess clinical services delivery systems
- Monitor staff adherence to clinical policies and procedures
- Establishing departmental mission, goals, and strategies
- Assume duties of director in his/her absence
- Represent the department on campus/community committees
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills that will allow effective interaction with clients, parents, faculty, staff, medical, mental health and other professionals, and others concerned with the mental health issues of BGSU students.
- Strong counseling skills including a thorough knowledge of theory as well as empirically validated interventions to implement for specific disorders and conditions.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, and the Ethical Principles for mental health practitioners.
- Strong crisis intervention and consultation skills (including skills in suicide assessment and intervention; ability to facilitate voluntary/involuntary hospitalization; skills in conferring with faculty, staff and students about emergency situations; and a proficiency in the provision of crisis postvention activities).
- Strong case management skills.
- Skilled at attending to detail and accuracy of records.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology required. Eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the State of Ohio and ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of start date.
The following experience is required:
- 3-4 years’ mental health clinical practice (preferable in a University Counseling Center) that includes the following:
- Clinical assessment
- Crisis management
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- 1 year of experience in the provision of clinical supervision and/or clinical training.
Salary
Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 358. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.
