Health Educator – Mental Health Focus
Position Summary
Based on the evidence-based practice of college health promotion, the Health Educator - Mental Health Focus implements and participates in a comprehensive, interdisciplinary health promotions program for the diverse BGSU campus community. Using population-level prevention, they work to make the campus healthier by cultivating healthy attitudes and behaviors, coordinating efforts amongst various university constituencies and fostering a culture that values and supports a healthy community. They gather data to determine what health issues are most impacting the academic performance of BGSU students and collaborates with campus partners and health professionals to create interventions that address those issues. The Health Educator - Mental Health Focus pursues external funding opportunities to support the work of the position and the Division of Health & Wellness.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, implementing and evaluating mental health promotion initiatives for the BGSU student body. Coordinate and integrate mental health promotion programs that integrate into the framework offered by the BGSU Wellness Connection and Counseling Center. Write research/grant proposals for additional funding to support the work of the Division of Health & Wellness.
- Assist in the Counseling Center's community intervention program, responding to requests for programming.
- Disseminate, and report on population-based assessments of mental health status, needs, and assets of students and environmental assessments of student mental health needs and resources. Develop proposals for programs and other interventions based on findings.
- Produce health promotion materials and publications. Create and implement marketing and educational outreach programs to ensure that the promotion of mental/emotional wellbeing is highly visible on campus.
- Develop collaborative programs and working relationships with numerous constituencies on campus, including but not limited to Residential Life, Falcon Health Center, Athletics, Fraternity and Sorority Life, academic programs and student organizations. Collaborate with community agencies. Participate in community, and campus initiatives, as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in health promotion, health education, community health, or related field. Master’s in Public Health, Health Education, College Student Personnel or related field preferred.
The following experience is required:
- Minimum of one year of health promotion or health grant writing experience (can include 2 year graduate internship).
The following experience is preferred:
- One to three years in mental health promotion in a college health setting preferred.
Salary
Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Leve 354. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.
