Purpose of the Position
The corporate controller is responsible for analysis and oversight of risk management, financial control and reporting, corporate accounting and finance taxation reporting. Manages business investments and corporate banking. Oversee's financial procurement and investment funds for the company.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the financial close process and ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.
- Responsible for working closely with Accounting for corporate, Federal and State tax returns for the company.
- Oversee general ledger, 401K and VEba accruals.
- Share holder dividend payments
- Key contact in securing policy renewals for both Property/ casualty and Life/ Health
- Communicate monthly and annual results to private equity ownership and lenders.
- Act as the primary resource for technical accounting issues and ensure compliance with all GAAP pronouncements and financial policies and procedures.
- Ensure an efficient and effective system of internal controls and provide leadership in improving the internal control environment.
- Act as the primary point of contact with external auditors and coordinate the year-end audit.
- Partner with divisional leadership to drive strategic initiatives.
- Lead the department in preparing budgets and forecasts and in analyzing results throughout the year.
- Analyze and report on trends in key performance indicators associated with the business.
- Develop and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with key business leaders and provide solutions for new initiatives.
- Provide support for M&A activities including due diligence, analysis and management of post-transaction activities.
- Provide financial support for union negotiations.
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) require
- 8-15 years of progressive experience
