Essential Job Specific Duties/Responsibilities
- Renders care to residents according to nursing standards and policies.
- Assess infection control problems and makes recommendations.
- Prepares the agenda for the infection control committee.
- Monitors infection control practices and employee compliance.
- Initiates and revises infection control policies and procedures.
- Conducts outbreak investigations and initiates control measures.
- Initiates follow-up on employee/resident exposure to communicable disease.
- Administers medication and treatments as prescribed.
- Has direct function for acute medical/nursing care plan and documentation pertaining to infections.
- Assists in teaching residents and in training new personnel.
- Manages administration and compliance TB screening, Hepatitis B vaccines, and flu vaccines and compliance of in-services.
- Coordinates and leads educational programs for staff, including orientations, in-services, competencies, and training programs, and completes exit interviews.
- Assists with recruiting Nurses and Nursing Assistants.
Job Requirements
- Education: Associate’s Degree from an accredited School of Nursing. Nurse currently licensed in the state of Ohio.
- Experience: Long-term care experience preferred. Currently certified in CPR.
- Completion of a basic training program for Infection Control.
- Certification in Infection Control is desired.
- Ability to develop policies and procedures.
- Ability to teach and evaluate clinical performance.
