The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission will administer a written examination for Police Officer at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
Specific information about the examination process will be provided upon application.
An Associate Degree or the completion of at least 96 quarter hours or 64 semester hours toward a Bachelor's Degree, is required. Proof of education is required at the time of application. The post-secondary education must be obtained from an accredited college or university. (Hours must be eligible for transfer to Bowling Green State University.) In accordance with Section 124.41 of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) no person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment as a police officer, unless the person has reached the age of twenty-one (21) and has not yet reached the age of thirty-five (35). (The age restriction is permitted by the Public Safety Exemption to the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (29 U.S. Code 623 (j)). The City's Charter provides for an additional credit of 10% of a passing test score for honorably discharged veterans. A candidates DD Form 214 of honorable discharge must be submitted at the time of application in order to be eligible for the veteran's credit. New employees must serve a one-year probationary period.
Starting rate is $26.31 per hour.
