Code Enforcement Officer
Full-time position available with KCMO’s
Parks & Recreation Department, SHAPE
Inspections Program Division, 4600 E. 63 rd
St. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-
Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The Safe
Healthy Attractive Public Environments
(S.H.A.P.E.) Conducts field inspections of
the department’s parks and facilities.
Prepares detailed reports on S.H.A.P.E.
findings within 24 hours of an inspection.
S.H.A.P.E. has 20 ratable features for parks
and facilities. Ratable features include but
are not limited to: litter control, illegal
dumping, general park and facility
maintenance, identifying dead or hazardous
trees, identifying immediate attention
hazards and reporting findings to
management. Maintains digital records
(including photographs). Compiles daily,
monthly, quarterly reports. Documents
repeat findings of illegal dumping, graffiti,
other public safety concerns. Provides
recommendations and research for program
improvements. Assists in department
planning, research, training activities.
Conducts inspections in various weather
conditions. Performs related duties as
required. REQUIRES high school
graduation and a minimum of 60 semester
hours; OR high school graduation and 2
years of experience in institutional or
community environmental sanitation or
housing or building code enforcement. Must
possess a valid state-issued driver's license
in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
Must possess or be eligible to obtain
required police commission from KCMO
Police Department. Must pass a pre-
employment drug screen and post-offer
physical examination as prescribed by the
City. Preference for Microsoft Excel and
PowerPoint experience. Salary Range:
