Recycle Center Assistant
Job Summary
The Recycle Center Assistant is responsible for the general maintenance, opening, and closing of the recycle center. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Recycle Cener Operator and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Salary, Benefits, and Work Schedule
$11.33-$15.29 per hour depending upon qualifications and experience

Tuesday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; flexibility required occasionally to assist Refuse as needed
• Hauls roll off containers and trailers
• Monitors flow of recycled and waste materials
• Coordinates and schedules pickup frequencies with outside agencies
• Requisitions supplies and materials as needed
• Informs customers of fee and payment schedules and receives payments for processed materials
• Operates cash register regularly
• Responds to customer questions and resolves problems
• Inspects and processes incoming materials
• Ensures recyclable and waste materials are placed in appropriate containers
• Performs general housekeeping and groundskeeping activities to maintain facility in a clean and orderly manner
• Performs preventive maintenance, cleaning, and repair of tools and equipment utilized by the center
• Provides professional, punctual and courteous service at all times to citizens of the City of Owasso
• Maintain written logs and records related to equipment performance
• Lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally more than 50 pounds
• Operate roll off truck and backhoe
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience -
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver license with good driving record, with CDL Class "B" commercial certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
• Previous recycling experience desired (paid or volunteer); preference given to individuals with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in the job description
• Basic Microsoft computer skills
Preferred Education, Experience and/or Certifications
• Refrigerant Evacuation certification
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Work will be performed mostly outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, hot and cold, and wet and/or humid conditions. The work environment may include exposure to drafts, noise, dust, grease, and traffic.
Tasks require ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally more than 50 pounds, and typically involve some combination of walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods of time, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, and mental and visual acuity.
