Code Enforcement Officer-Planning Dept. $19.86-$24.33 Depending on qualifications
Responsible for assisting customers, taking appropriate action with respect to inquiries and complaints, conducting field inspections, documenting violations, issuing appropriate warnings or citations, and leading and coordinating overall code enforcement process. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting customers with identifying and understanding applicable code provisions with the intent of avoiding violations to the extent possible.
- Processing permit applications and issuing permits with the scope, authority and responsibility assigned.
- Detecting, investigating, documenting and ensuring the correction of violations of the Community Development Code (CDC).
- Receiving, investigating, researching and ensuring resolution of questions, complaints, violations and issues concerning City codes related to zoning, subdivisions, nuisances, signs, weed control and other land use issues and violations as assigned.
- Assist in the scheduling and documentation of field inspection activities.
- Conducting field inspections and investigations and identifying legal owners and parties of interest; notifying parties of CDC non-compliance; issuing corrective letters and notices for violations of City code and informing owners of the legal process should they not comply.
- Researching problems and complaints related to land use, signage, lighting, building and property maintenance and vegetation.
- Issuing notices, warnings, citations, stop-work-orders or other appropriate actions.
- Assisting in the resolution of customer service issues.
- Performing follow-up site inspections to verify compliance with specified corrective actions; photographing and documenting findings; analyzing situations and determining appropriate action.
- Preparing and maintaining detailed records and reports of inspection, violation and enforcement activities.
- Confirming and documenting resolution of violations.
- Collaborating with City Attorneys and Police Department as necessary.
- Preparing reports as required for court action; appearing and testifying in court as required.
Transit Fleet Technician (Mechanic), $21.78-$25.60 Depending on qualification.
The City of Steamboat Springs has an excellent opportunity to join our Transit division as a Fleet Technician.
The qualified individual performs semi-skilled, skilled, and administrative work in diagnosing and maintaining the vehicles and mechanical equipment of the Transit department, primarily the Transit fleet of buses.
This person works under the supervision of the Fleet Superintendent.
At times, this position may be responsible for assigning work to other Fleet Mechanics and for communication with all Departments and operators regarding proper operation of vehicles/equipment and shop tools and procedures. Will assist in a supervisory role when Fleet Superintendent is absent on a rotating basis.
