Disability and Mental Health Specialist
South Central Head Start Program for Clark, Estill, Garrard, Jackson, Laurel, Madison, Powell and Rockcastle counties is currently accepting applications for the position of Disability and Mental Health Specialist. The position is directly responsible for ensuring mental health and disabilities services in all child development centers are in compliance with child care licensing, Head Start Performance Standards, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). In collaboration with Early Head Start Partnership Directors, this position provides technical assistance to center staff that meets funding source requirements and to ensure program outcomes.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development or early childhood special education, psychology, sociology or specific licensure in a therapeutic discipline field required. Two years of relevant experience. Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet and e communications is highly preferred. Must have reliable transportation, valid Kentucky driver’s license, and must provide proof of insurability. Must obtain a T.B. skin test, as well as any other screenings, physicals, and testing required by the funding source, licensing and/or regulations.
