Full Time Probation Officer Hancock County Common Pleas Court Adult Probation Department
Is seeking a full time Probation Officer. This position will assist an extremely busy division of the Court in supervising defendants reporting to the Adult Probation Department for various treatment and punitive interventions. This position will also be required to prepare multiple investigations for the Court and other duties as assigned. B.A., B.S. or Associates Degree in Corrections, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field; valid Ohio Driver's License; ability to obtain and maintain departmentally established level of proficiency in the use of firearms; at least 21 years of age.
- Candidate must have strong oral, written and computer communication skills. Additional preferred skills include critical thinking, decision-making, organizational, change agent oriented and emotional stability. Prior experience as a probation officer, substance abuse counseling, and/or mental health counseling is strongly preferred.
- Candidate must have or be able to obtain Certifications in ORAS; Thinking for a Change; EPICS; Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse Treatment and Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.
Hancock County resident is a significant plus as occasional evening and weekend surveillance is required. This position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
