Organizational Development Practitioners
- Summary
The Career and Culture Division within the Department of Human Resources (DHR) has an outstanding opportunity for Organizational Development (OD) Practitioners. We are looking for dynamic and seasoned professionals to serve as process consultants to the Division where they will assist the Division Director in developing an OD plan. Through intake, review, and design of programs, strategies, management systems and tools the OD Practitioners will support a healthier workplace culture. The individuals performing this work will use principles of management practices, organizational change and development, with a focus on motivation, using established human resource practices and concepts. Leading with an emphasis on equity and social justice, all performance will be shaped by a commitment to addressing inequities based on race, power and privilege which is a central priority to Investing in You and the Equity and Social Justice (ESJ) Strategic Plan.

Who May Apply
This position is open to the general public. This recruitment process will be used to fill up to four Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions OR Special Duty Assignments (SDA) that are anticipated to last eighteen (18) months to assist the Division Director with the development of the OD plan. The SDA opportunity is only open to current King County career service and appointed employees that have completed their initial King County probation.
Work Schedule
The typical workweek is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime eligible.

- Provide support and consultancy for OD plan and programs serving as a change agent.
- Provide consultation for King County internal customers, facilitating the identification areas of operational management need, and guiding toward a determined intervention process, including but not limited to: coaching, strategic planning, or management process/systems design and general organizational health.
- Work collaboratively with Career and Culture division leadership and King County department/division/section leaders to develop, design, and implement various learning programs.
- Support the continued development and launch of healthy conflict engagement, workplace repair, and culture change.
- Support the advancement of the County's ESJ Strategic Plan and ensure that the principles of the ESJ plan are reflected in all aspects of the Division's operations.
- Facilitate optimum utilization of County resources, such as methods, equipment, materials, funding, and people, through effective management practices to accomplish established short-term and long-term goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development or a related field; AND
- Four years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of organizational development, project management, systems management, public administration, training and development, and/or human resources. OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience/education/training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
Other Qualifications:- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including people of color, immigrants, refugees, women, LGBTQ, people with disabilities, and veterans.
- Experience having complex and challenging discussions about race and diversity in the workplace, managing differences, and building bridges.
- Ability to create initiatives to develop, coach, and mentor a culturally and generationally diverse staff in a collaborative manner that focuses on employee engagement, good communication, and team building.
- Strong and active supervisory skills.
- Skill in establishing effective working relationship and partnerships across boundaries.
- Clear and effective communication and presentation skills, both oral, and written, with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels both internally and externally.
- Skill at goal-setting with the ability to organize people and activities to accomplish strategic work plans.
- Skill & demonstrated experience in developing and establishing process improvements, and developing innovative approaches to problem solving, working collaboratively and implementing various learning programs.
- Skill in system/organizational analysis.
Desirable Qualifications:- Demonstrated skill in implementing programs and services across a broad complex organization.
- Comfort and flexibility in navigating a complex political environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
- Experience delivering service to support an equity and social justice framework.
