Human Resources Generalist

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to be an HR business partner with the management teams and assist with a variety of HR functions for the family of companies, focusing on our Customer Care Call Center.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handles employee relations matters to include terminations, counseling, coaching and documentation
- Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and helping resolve work-related problems
- Address employees and advises managers on organizational policy matters such as; equal employment opportunity, work complaints, harassment allegations and other employee concerns
- Handles employment claims such as unemployment and EEOC and all related investigations
- Serve as back up for HR manager on a variety of HR or HRIS projects
- Manage progressive disciplinary software and templates
- Works with corporate recruiters to determine staffing needs and back up all recruiting functions as necessary
- Work with corporate training to review content and assist as necessary
- Conduct exit interviews and review data as necessary
- Manage the process for employee evaluations and 360 evaluations
- Monitor and evaluate headcount, turnover and other relevant HR metrics
- Oversee updates and maintenance of the Intranet pages
- Recommend changes and monitor compliance laws for related practices and employee handbooks
- Other duties assigned as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in HR or HR related field strongly preferred
- Experience:
- 5+ years of HR progressive experience
- Prior HR experience in a call center preferred
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Skills:
- Hard Skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, HR specific software
- Soft Skills: strong presentation skills, willingness and ability to learn from other departments, innovator, good verbal and written communication skills, strong time management skills, strong organization skills, can-do attitude, sense of urgency, ability to take constructive criticism and strong work ethic
- Typical Physical Demands:
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
