Lucas County Lucas County Emergency Medical Services Annex is accepting applications to fill the positions of Equipment Technician II until filled.
POSITION: Equipment Technician II
LOCATION: Lucas County EMS Annex - 129 21st Street
WORK HOURS: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday (may vary) (Periodically available 24-hour on-call status) Performs EMS related tasks as directed by the Support Services Specialist I or higher.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Implement comprehensive infection control procedures on ALS & BLS medical equipment and vehicles on periodic and scheduled basis. * Responsible to perform all housekeeping duties in the Lucas County EMS Annex, i.e., vacuum floor, wash windows and floors, general maintenance, etc. * May perform minor grounds maintenance at the Lucas County Emergency Services facility. * Deliver and/or pick-up medication, supplies, equipment and vehicles. * Assist in the minor repair and maintenance of ALS and BLS Medical supplies and equipment. * Lift and move objects as needed. * Drive EMS vehicles. * Responsible to perform EMS related tasks as assigned by the Support Specialist I or higher. * Assist with inventory control including medication, medical supplies and equipment. * Responsible to render medical care to citizens pursuant to Lucas County EMS protocols when equipment is available and as need arises, i.e., PR events. * Attend and successfully complete all continuing education courses required by Lucas County EMS.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or equivalent. Ohio certified EMT-Paramedic. Valid driver's license. The Equipment Technician II will stay current on all Lucas County EMS Continuing Education Program Training. The Equipment Technician II must maintain licensure under the Lucas County EMS Medical Director by completing all required continuing education coursework.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: * Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions. * Ability to communicate orally and in writing. * Ability to reason and carry out simple instructions. * Ability to carry out detailed but basic written and/or oral instructions. * Ability to work without constant supervision. * Ability to lift and move varying weights of up to one hundred (100) pounds. * Ability to drive EMS vehicles. * Confidentiality.
High School Diploma or equivalent and Ohio certified EMT-Paramedic license will be required. Selected candidate will also need to successfully pass a background reference & criminal records check. Position is participate in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
