Certified Inspector
The Lucas County Building Regulations Department is seeking State of Ohio Certified Inspectors who review construction documents; inspect construction for compliance with approved construction documents (and where plans are deficient, inspects construction for compliance with applicable codes and regulations), provide reports to the Chief Building Official; maintain construction document logs/records/files/etc. during construction; communicate as directed by the Chief Building Official with permit holders/contractors/architects/engineers, regarding status of construction plan/code compliance; assist in the dissemination of Chief Building Official's orders.
Minimum Qualifications
Holder of valid State of Ohio Inspector Certificates as issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards (OBBS); or holder of passing scores of International Code Council (I.C.C.) certification tests of OBBS classifications as determined by the Chief Building Official based on current staffing. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and driving privileges. Compensation Certified Inspectors are bargaining unit positions paid hourly.
Hourly pay ranges from $28.59 to $40.23 depending on certifications and work experience. Certified Inspectors are eligible for bonuses and can cash in unused sick and vacation time; granted a generous amount of time off including paid holidays, vacation, personal and comp time; use of a home garaged County vehicle; excellent healthcare/dental/vision/spousal coverage.
