  • Participates as part of the Counseling and Wellness clinical team, completing intakes and carrying a caseload of therapy clients, particularly those with complex mental health needs. Maintains appropriate records and documentation, in compliance with law, ethics and best practices.
  • Develop and implement systems for follow-up with students who have been referred to community resources (psychotherapists, psychiatrists, clinics, treatment programs). Follow up with external providers to ensure that students are appropriately assessed, successfully referred, and compliant with treatment recommendations.
  • Case Management for students at risk: Assist and support students in accessing services from college and community resources by working with Counseling and Wellness Center staff, Dean of Students, the Academic Resource Center and/or other appropriate treatment providers or college departments. Examples include scheduling phone appointments for students who need referral information, reviewing health questionnaires such as the patient health questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), meeting with students who need referral information, meeting with students to overcome barriers to accessing community resources, and/or support services across campus.
  • Case Management for students who are on medical leave and/or have been hospitalized for mental illness: Assist and support students in requesting and getting approval for a medical leave from MassArt by assisting with coordinating community resources and care. Assist and support students in transitioning successfully back to MassArt by assisting with discharge planning, coordinating follow-up care, and facilitating students' access to appropriate services on- and off-campus.
  • Serve as a liaison to other departments in support of students having difficulty for mental health reasons including: attending the students at risk ACT (assessment and care team) meetings, consulting with parents, faculty, school administrators, student development staff when appropriate and with appropriate authorization, attending and participating in Counseling and Wellness Center clinical meetings, Student Development Division meetings, Mental Health Task Force and other staff meetings and training activities.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive database for mental health providers in the Boston area and assist students in finding mental health care near their homes. As well as build and maintain liaison relationships with off-campus mental health providers, private practitioners, hospitals and inpatient units, and other community partners.
  • Involved in development and implementing mental health and suicide prevention workshops.

Other Job Duties:

1. May provide supervision to psychology and social work trainees.

2. Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.

6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work or related mental health field
  • License or license-eligible within professional field within 2 years (e.g. LMHC, LCSW)
  • One year experience providing psychotherapy including assessment of crisis cases

  • At least one year of providing clinical case management experience.
