Operating Room Educator (RN)
The Professional Nurse, Operating Room delivers direct patient care in the intra-operative period of the patient’s surgical experience through the framework of the nursing process. Provides a safe, efficient, and caring environment for individual surgical patients. Presents with a broad surgical knowledge base, instant recall of nursing science, diversity of thought and action, stamina, and the flexibility needed for peri-operative nursing. Understands surgical anatomy, physiologic alterations and their consequences for the patient, intra-operative risk factors, potentials for patient injury and the means of preventing them, and psychosocial implications of surgery for the patient and significant others. The Professional Nurse, Operating Room anticipates the needs of the patient and surgical team and rapidly initiates appropriate nursing interventions. He/she evaluates the safety, cost, and outcomes of patient service. The Professional Nurse, Operating Room circulates proficiently and independently. This person teaches and acts as a preceptor to new employees, students, or visitors.
Current License by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS).
Previous Operating Room experience preferred, Computer Skills, and knowledge of CPSI.
