The Michigan State University Sexual Assault Program social worker position (Sexual Assault Therapist) will provide direct service and outreach to a diverse student population. The Sexual Assault Therapist will provide comprehensive therapy services to victims of sexual assault and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse; will facilitate individual counseling and group services and provide advocacy and crisis intervention services. This position is responsible for the completion of counseling, advocacy grant-required statistics, and service documentation. This position is funded by the Victim of Crime Act Grant.
Required: Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of graduate study beyond a bachelor's degree, such as a master's in social work or counseling; three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience providing advocacy and counseling to survivors of sexual assault; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and state licensure as a social worker.
Desired:Demonstrated competency and expertise in counseling and outreach with diverse populations; More than three years of experience providing advocacy and counseling to survivors of sexual assault; experience providing sexual assault services and trauma treatment in a university or college setting; experience in facilitating training and presentations for large groups; experience with grant-related data collection and reporting. Proficiency in a second language such as Spanish or Mandarin preferred
