Connecticut College is conducting a national search for an Associate Director of Employee Benefits. The College seeks a driven, versatile and eager professional to serve as the Associate Director of Employee Benefits. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Associate Director of Employee Benefits will be responsible for designing, recommending, delivering and administering the College's robust employee and retiree benefits programs in a manner that provides optimum cost-benefit to plan participants and the College, and supports the recruitment and retention of quality faculty and staff.
The Associate Director of Employee Benefits will be directly responsible for the oversight and management of the College’s comprehensive employee and retiree benefit and leave programs. These programs include, but are not limited to health care insurance (medical, dental and vision), retirement plan, education benefits, short and long disability coverage, modified duty, worker's compensation, FML, vacation and sick leave. The Associate Director will be responsible for the evaluation of plan designs, and implementation and administration of benefit programs, policies, and procedures. S/he will identify, recommend and implement improvements to processes and practices leveraging available technologies, and will develop long and short-term benefit budgets/forecasts and analyze costs and utilization trends. The Associate Director will also manage broker, consultant, insurance carrier and third-party administrator relationships, including preparation of request for proposals, analysis of proposals, negotiation of contracts, and fulfillment of service obligations. S/he will act as a liaison and facilitator between employees and insurance carriers/third-party administrators to resolve problems; deliver a comprehensive and effective benefits education and communication program; and make recommendation to the Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Development based on benefit market trends to assure the College’s benefit offerings keep pace with the peer employers and governmental regulations. The Associate Director will implement new benefit programs and modify/change existing plans as approved by College leadership; conduct internal audits and support external audits to verify benefit program compliance with plan design, applicable laws and College policy; manage the human resource information system (HRIS) and benefit administration portal as it pertains to benefits tracking, enrollment, and employee deductions; work with Information Services staff to upgrade and expand current system, and implement new systems; and direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of two staff. The Associate Director also administers the interactive ADA process with employees who request a workplace accommodation.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Management/Business Administration or a related discipline and a minimum of 7 years’ experience with progressively increasing employee benefits management and leadership responsibility is required, experience in higher education is preferred. The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership and managerial skills. Solid spreadsheet, quantitative and analytical skills to develop benefit budgets and assess cost trends. Excellent communication skills and the ability to analyze and clearly explain complex HR and benefit issues. Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to be creative, innovative, and resourceful. Proven experience managing benefits within a HRIS and benefit administration portal, preferably ellucian’s Banner and Benefit. Focus respectively, creating complex longitudinal reports from these systems, and implementing additional functionality. The ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and manage multiple priorities is essential. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships. Keen knowledge of current labor laws and regulations applicable to employee benefits, retirement, and investment programs including HIPAA, FLMA, ACA, ERISA and COBRA is required. Ability to motivate, mentor, train, counsel, evaluate, and develop staff. Strong commitment to customer service and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Accuracy with details and proven ability to use sound judgment and high integrity in handling confidential information is essential.
On Call Dining Service Aid Door Cashier
Perform cashiering duties, cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, giving change, customer service and general cleaning in the dining hall.
Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for On Call Dining Service Aid Door Cashier to perform cashiering duties: including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, giving change, counting cash receipts and completing cash reports. They will also perform general cleaning work, maintaining sanitation standards in the preparation, service and dining room facilities.
The On Call Dining Service Aid Door Cashier will be responsible for ensure accurate distribution of Care Package (CamelPak) retail sales, accurately account for completed Care Package transactions; assist customers in requests for bagged lunches; and directs customers when picking up bagged lunches; perform sales transactions in a timely fashion; enter all sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded; make change, accepts declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment; issues receipts to customers. Ensures customers accurately complete appropriate charge slips; interact with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner, bringing concerns & complaints to the attention of a supervisor in a timely manner and ensure compliance with all sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements.
High School Diploma required with 1 year of work experience. Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community; excellent attention to detail and must be well-organized, able to work under pressure.
