Essential Functions:
Clinical: The incumbent performs the following duties: Physical and Computerized EKGs, attachment of holter and event monitor monitoring devices. Scanning of holter monitors as well as event monitor enrollment thru third party vendor. Medical order entry into medical record for outpatient as necessary. These tests are performed routine, emergency and alert situations.
Clerical: Responsible for proper order reconciliation, reporting, and finalization of electronic ECG's. Operates a sophisticated electronic EKG Management System to ensure proper storage and retrieval of pertinent patient information. Edits and finalizes reports accurately. Verifies departmental charge revenue. Receives and acts upon phone calls from medical staff requesting retrievals of various procedure reports.
Inventory: Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of supplies needed for all testing procedures.
Performance Improvement: Participates in hospital and departmental on-going Performance Improvement activities and complies with actions taken as a result of those activities to assure high quality patient care.

Requirements:
- CPR certification
- High school diploma/GED required
- This position requires knowledge and use of computerized electrocardiographic equipment. The ability to perform an EKG procedure, operate the EKG machine, attach a holter monitor, bio-impendance and recognize abnormal rhythms is normally acquired through 1-2 months of on-the-job training. Experience in stress testing, pacemaker follow-up, and scanning of holter tapes is generally acquired over a 1-2 year period.
- Skill in patient/family teaching regarding the issue of wearing and returning a Holter Monitor and recording symptoms experienced, instructing patients in proper use of event monitors, and explaining all procedures performed to patient and/or family
- The incumbent deals mainly with the adult and geriatric population.
