The Position:
We are seeking a Full-time Scheduling Coordinator for busy oncology/hematology offices in East Brunswick, NJ. The Scheduling Coordinator assists physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses so they may quickly and effectively provide health care to their patients. The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling patients, coordinating patient care with other healthcare facilities, and collaborating with home infusion services. This position would be required to routinely float to other locations such as Monroe, Edison or Somerset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for scheduling all patient appointments and oral teaches for office visits, laboratory, injections and chemotherapy treatments in accordance with RCCA CJD scheduling policies and procedures.
- Supports all clinical providers.
- Follows up with billing to ensure the timely scheduling of patient chemotherapy education and the start of all treatments.
- Assures all scheduled appointments and/or treatments have been pre-certified.
- Maintains close communication with supervisor, pharmacy and physicians should medication not be approved or should a delay in approval occur.
- Utilizes effective time management skills to set priorities for all assignments/projects to be completed within required time frames.
- Greets all patients, families and caregivers and answers the telephone in a professional manner.
- Accepts and refers telephone calls for assigned members of the RCCA staff and answers/assists triage nurses with phones communicate with clinical staff.
- Identify if premeds are needed for regimen and bring to attention of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants or RNs.
- Orders and maintains all medical and clerical supplies and equipment.
- Checks orders upon arrival for completeness. Ensures that supplies are stored properly.
- Monitors all inventory. Practices OSHA safety standards.
- Maintains Universal Precautions.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education And/Or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Clerical experience preferred, but not essential.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment, i.e. computer, fax, copier and telephone skills required.
