Recreation Supervisor
City of Stow is accepting applications to fill the full-time position of Recreation Supervisor for the Parks & Recreation Department.Starting pay range is $25.99 to $34.37 per hour.
Purpose: This is a mid-level professional position and includes supervisory work in the City’s Recreation Department. The position assists in planning, developing and supervising year-round and seasonal recreation program activities for a City-wide program and community/senior center. Individual works under the direct supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation, with considerable latitude for creative and responsive recreation programming and leadership.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates all recreational activities, events and programming for senior citizen population.
- Produces, edits and publishes the Stow senior newsletter.
- Acts as liaison between senior groups and the Stow administration.
- Supervises the development, planning and coordination of the Community Bus Trip Program.
- Acts as staff liaison for the City of Stow at the Stow Senior Commission.
- Assists in planning, developing and directing year-round and seasonal recreation programs, classes of instruction and activities which will serve the needs and wants of the community.
- Administers programs within the adopted budget guideline for all community recreation programs.
- Researches new and evaluates current programming of services for total citizenry by specific age groups and special populations.
- Assists in promoting community participation during activities, program planning and leadership; and by meeting with neighborhood agencies, community organizations, school personnel, and local businesses.
- Publicizes events, classes and programs.
- Recruits, reviews applications, interviews, selects and supervises selected individuals for job openings pertaining to assigned areas.
- Determines qualifications for and defines number of staff needed for programs under the supervision of the Director.
- Assists in supervising the use and maintenance of a community center and/or other City-owned recreation facilities.
- Coordinates all special needs programming.
- Coordinates all volunteers for the Stow Parks & Recreation Department.
- Assists front office staff as needed with customers, incoming phone calls and program registration.
- Analyzes past financial revenue and expenditures and continuously evaluates programs to determine viability of continuing and/or creating programming.
- Prepares marketing information for all programs.
- Justifies cash and opens office, as needed.
- Regular, reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of the position. (This is due to the fact that employees work as part of a team, and that there are a limited number of employees available to perform numerous tasks critical to meeting the efficient and effective delivery of statutory services to the public, and/or among whom the responsibilities to perform those numerous tasks can be distributed.)
- Compliance with all City of Stow city-wide and departmental policies, work rules and procedures.
- Performs other duties related to those of the position and/or resulting from the needs of the organization.
