Summit County is recruiting for an entry-level attorney looking to learn and make a difference among a team of excellent civil attorneys. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated individual who is dependable, has a strong work ethic, a demonstrated history of effectively working independently, and delivering a consistent work product. This position will work in our Civil Division, located at the Summit County Courthouse in Coalville, Utah. The successful candidate will join a team focused on providing excellent legal services to county government and our special service districts. Will perform research and prepare opinions on various legal problems and issues in civil litigation of the county and its special service districts; prepares and litigates cases arising out of civil activities; interviews witnesses; determines, prepares and approves appropriate charges to enforce county ordinances; prepares for court by performing legal research, composing and drafting briefs, gathering and analyzing evidence and participates in discovery; delivers the county's or special service district's case in civil and code enforcement proceedings; attends and participates in motions practice, civil trials and other hearings as required by the court.
Minimum qualifications: graduation from a College of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree and must be licensed to practice law in the State of Utah (member in good standing of the Utah State Bar and Federal Bar of Utah).
Salary Range: $59,405.83 - $83,264.92 We offer a generous benefit package with options for a premium free health plan, dental plan, and life insurance. State of Utah retirement provided, as well as sick leave, vacation, and parental leave. Summit County is a drug free workplace conducting pre-employment drug testing. Must be able to pass extensive background check.
