Security Officer - Grand Rapids, MI
The purpose of this position is to preserve order, protect property and personnel, and enforce regulations through officer presence, video surveillance, the use of positive access control while maintaining an updated log of all events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Surveillance of multiple facilities
- Vehicle / Foot Patrol of multiple facilities
- Control Access to multiple facilities
- Maintain updated incident log of all events
- Report writing
- Shipping / Receiving (May include internal mail retrieval, sorting and distribution)
- Clearly / Effectively communicate with staff and customers
- Provide officer presence to customers / employees
- Provide escort for tours / vendors
- Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry
- Obtains help by sounding alarms
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers
- Controls traffic by directing drivers
- Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures
- Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls
- Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Assumes the responsibilities of internal mail retrieval, sorting and distribution, as required

Education:

Experience:
Military or Law Enforcement or 5 years of prior Security experience
