Who we are.
Tusk is one-part venture capital firm, one-part political strategy firm that deploys both capital and strategic expertise to help startups and other entities break through regulatory barriers and operate at full speed. These campaigns happen at virtually every level of government in every corner of the United States (and sometimes abroad). They involve everything from figuring out the underlying strategy to managing and executing every tactic - from lobbying to grassroots, opposition research to policy formation, partnerships to procurement - at every turn. Our job is to get big things done at high levels of politics, government, media and public life. Whether it's a legislative battle, a regulatory fight, a communications effort, a grassroots campaign, a fight with another company, winning a procurement, creating a public-private partnership, or building a major facility facing zoning challenges, our job is to figure out what it takes to win and then run the entire campaign until we get there.
The role.
We are looking to hire a new member of our communications team to help develop and execute communications campaigns and strategies on behalf of the firm and our clients. We work with everyone from startups to established companies across a variety of industries including transportation, energy, health care, education, insurance, finance, hospitality, alcohol, beauty and gaming. The candidate would preferably be based in New York City or Chicago. Our firm's model is unique, so we need uniquely talented people to join our team.
Who you are.

You should think and write strategically about a range of issues in a variety of mediums including press releases, op-eds, prepared remarks, messaging documents, briefing documents and blog posts. You must be able to think outside the box when it comes to communication strategies - everything from podcasts to newsletters and stunts.
We move quickly. Our work is hard. We value those who can push themselves, are eager deeply understand complex topics and industries and aren't afraid to solve problems and on their own. You have to not just be willing, but excited to be a part of doing the hard work it takes to build and grow our firm.
What you will be doing.
As a member of the communications team, you will be responsible for working directly with our clients to find strategic ways to articulate their vision and tell their story to a wide audience including media, customers, investors, politicians, policy influencers and other key players in the regulatory environment.
