Position Description
Applications are being accepted for multiple tenure-track faculty at the Assistant/Associate Professor level scientists working at the cellular and/or molecular level on topics relevant to cancer biology and experimental therapeutics to expand and complement the current strengths of the department.
Candidates will have a substantial record of research accomplishments and be directly responsible for increasing grant funding from NIH or othernational agencies. They will also contribute to graduate and medical education.
Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
Ph.D. or M.D. degree with impressive postdoctoral research accomplishments, required
Minimum 3-4 years research experience in cancer biology at the cellular and/or molecular level on topics relevant to cancer biology and experimental therapeutics, required
Three or more high quality publications, required
Ability to collaborate with one or more existing faculty members in the department, required
Ability to lead a laboratory team and work in a collegial manner with departmental personnel, required
Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor are required to have significant grant funding from NIH or other national agencies
Strong potential to compete for additional extramural funding, required
Active grant support preferred for Assistant Professor applicants
Communication and other skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, required
Working Conditions:
Will be expected to work in an academic office, classroom and research environment. The latter may entail working with chemicals of varying toxicity, biohazards, animals, radioactive material, human cells/tissues and microorganisms. Must be willing and able to comply with all UT policies and procedures governing human resources, teaching and research.
