Mechanical Engineering Faculty
The University of Jamestown is seeking a full-time faculty member in Mechanical Engineering to begin in the fall of 2019. The selected individual will develop and teach a variety of courses in the Mechanical Engineering Department including dynamics, control systems, and vibrations. Other duties include program-building, student advising, and service to the university. Research activities and additional course development are highly encouraged. Qualified candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates as well as knowledge of pedagogical theory in STEM fields.
The position requires a minimum of Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. as well as those who have demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Technical background in classical and modern control theory, dynamic systems, practical industrial control applications, microcontroller and hardware in the loop implementations, mechatronics, autonomous systems, robotics or advanced vibrations.
- Familiarity with ADAMS and SolidWorks software.
- Interest in laboratory-based, hands-on instruction.

The Department of Engineering was started in 2016. It is currently offering a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and plans to graduate its first students in 2020. The Department combines a rigorous professional education with the goals of a liberal arts institution to create engineering graduates who are leaders and critical thinkers.
