Job Summary
This position will understand the culture, business goals and strategic priorities of assigned departments in order to introduce HR solutions or initiatives to help build organizational effectiveness and high employee engagement. This position consults and provides support and acts as a resource to leaders on employee relations, recruiting, benefits, compensation, performance management, and employee and organization development needs. This role includes serving as an employee advocate, leadership coach and change agent. Facilitates and conducts in-person training on a variety of human resources and professional development topics. This position shares responsibility for developing, administering and evaluating training programs to enhance the skills, knowledge, abilities and productivity of employees. Coordinates and manages course logistics for assigned programs offered through the Leadership Academy.
The Human Resources Business Partner & Talent Specialist will serve as a trusted advisor to assigned business leaders and members of their departments across the university to optimize the delivery of Human Resources services. This position will understand the culture, business goals and strategic priorities of assigned departments in order to introduce HR solutions or initiatives to help build organizational effectiveness and high employee engagement.
Essential Functions
Partnering
- Develops strong working relationships with assigned organization leaders and understands assigned department strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Provide advice and counsel to employees and leaders on employee relations matters
- Investigate issues and facilitate effective resolution
- Provide guidance and interpretation of University policies and procedures to employees and leaders, ensuring equitable, consistent and correct application and administration of policies, and compliance with state and federal employment regulations
- Works closely with the appropriate department heads on their department's organizational development needs
- Provides consultation on department structure, change management and strategic human resources strategies
Professional Development Programs
- Serves as a back-up the Emerging Leaders Institute and Leading for the Common Good professional development programs
- Develop program learning outcomes and guidelines
- Recruits internal and external presenters
- Manages all logistics by scheduling rooms, technology and materials
- Evaluates and recommends changes/modifications
Leadership Academy
- Co-creates an annual calendar of professional development courses through the Leadership Academy
- Recruits internal and external presenters
- Manages course logistics by scheduling rooms, technology and course materials.
University Needs Analysis
- In collaboration with Human Resources colleagues and department leaders, identifies training needs and develops programming
- Develops unique/customized training and trains on varied topics
Other
- Lead and participate in a variety of projects to support the Human Resources department (e.g. policy updates, HR process improvement, HR metrics)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or similar field, and experience in developing, delivering and evaluating training programs or events
- Five years of professional work experience in Human Resources with knowledge in multiple HR core areas, (employee relations, labor relations, training and development, compensation and benefits)
- Demonstrated experience in solving complex problems, ability to make sound judgement and ability to form strong interpersonal relationships
- Strong communication and presentation skills
