UWMC has an outstanding opportunity for two night shift, FULL-TIME (100%) HOSPITAL CENTRAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN 1's. Under general direction, the person in this role decontaminate process, sterilize, and assemble complex arrangements of specialized, intricate surgical instruments, case cart picking, clinic procedural trays, clinic peel packs and picking case cart supplies for surgical procedures following established guidelines.
General Responsibilities:
- Prioritize the need for instruments, equipment and supplies based on the scheduled surgical cases, surgeries in process and surgical cases added during the work schedule.
- Disassemble and decontaminate surgical/procedural instruments using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps, cleaners and processing methods.
- Inspect, reassemble, test for proper functioning, package, label and date instrumentation and equipment.
- Serve as a liaison between the surgical services staff, UWMC nursing units, clinic and UWNC clinics request for surgical instruments and procedural trays.
- Provide technical support and assistance to operating room staff within a sterile environment regarding the assembly and operation of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Perform related duties as required.
Requirements:
One year of experience as a Hospital Central Services Technician Trainee or equivalent, OR equivalent education/experience.
Desirables:
IAHCSMM certification
