Business Operations Coordinator
Job Description
Join the team that supports the business operations of the President’s Office. Working with the Director of Finance and Administration, the Business Operations Coordinator (BOC) will perform a wide variety of activities to assist the Office of the President and various departments that report to the President. Primary responsibilities include preparing day-to-day purchasing, administrative, and human resource transactions to ensure compliance with university and state policies and procedures. The BOC also prepares and analyzes reports and interacts with departments across the university. This position necessitates strong judgement and decision-making skills to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism of the Office of the President.
Required Qualifications
Degree in business, accounting or related field and/or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in a financial role.
Demonstrated exposure to and experience working with highly confidential information.
High degree of organization with attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, calendaring, electronic filing systems and backup.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with others.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and the flexibility to adapt when situations require shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of university, state, and foundation fiscal practices, policies and systems.
Preferred experience in banking or financial institutions
Working knowledge of SharePoint
Demonstrated ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
Banner finance and HR systems and reporting tools.
Experience using HokieMart and Requests for Payment to the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc.
