VTC Development Associate
Job Description
Provides administrative support for advancement activities of the Director of Development at the VTC School of Medicine by coordinating administrative functions including contact with the public, making travel arrangements, scheduling appointments and meetings, managing calendars, processing contact reports in university databases, and supporting special projects. Composes and processes correspondence for the Director of Development and Dean for the School of Medicine to followup with donors, volunteers, advisory committees and other constituent audiences. Assists with donor engagement activities and with gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship work in support of advancement strategies and priorities. Serves as point of contact and liaison to the Director of Development when he/she is out of the office. Answers questions, researches answers, and/or refers to other offices. Responsible for preparing and coordinating numerous regular and electronic mailings. Represents the development and advancement department by greeting guests and answering telephone inquiries and emails from donors, alumni, volunteers, staff, university representatives and others in a friendly, knowledgeable and customer centered manner. Provides additional administrative support as needed for other VTCSOM advancement priorities in communications, alumni relations and special events. Champions Virginia Tech and VTCSOM's mission, vision and values. Handles confidential and sensitive information. Limited travel to Blacksburg for advancement meetings and training required.
Required Qualifications
Professional level administrative and project support experience| Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support in an academic or professional office setting| Experience working with confidential materials, working accurately, independently and prioritizing tasks in a fastpaced team environment| Strong PC software proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software required (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree| Experience working in Blackbaud/Raisers Edge/AIMS or other large relational databases| Experience working in development and or fundraising
