Welcome to Washington Local Schools! As the new superintendent, I look forward to guiding the efforts that will create the best opportunities for the children entrusted to our care. I will be working with our teachers, staff, and administrators to strengthen the educational programs and services we provide to approximately 7,000 students. Every decision we make will be focused on what is best for kids, and I will never stop working to find new ways to enhance student learning and help our students reach their full potential. The Washington Local School District has built a solid reputation for individual attention and infinite opportunities. Whitmer High School offers 200 courses, including several honors and AP classes, 15 career training programs, 22 varsity sports, more than 50 extracurricular activities, and an array of options in art, music, and theatre. I am excited to collaborate with teachers and staff to foster a culture of innovation, inspiration, and achievement.
By increasing individualized instruction, we will meet the needs of all learners and help all students to grow. We will work together to actively engage students and ensure instruction is rigorous and relevant, and we will embrace technology as we help our students develop 21st century skills. WLS has a strong foundation for innovation. All of our schools are equipped with a wireless network. Additionally, the district has 3,500 desktop computers, 2,400 laptops, and 500 SmartBoards. Hands-on, real life, 21st century experiences are the core of the training programs at the Career and Technology Center.
Washington Local is also known for its strong and supportive community. We value our partnerships with parents, alumni, and local businesses. I encourage you to visit our schools and get involved. Please consider volunteering, serving as a role model, or creating a job shadow experience. Your time, presence, commitment, and support, in our schools and at the polls, make a significant difference. Parents, staff, alumni, and community leaders - thank you for supporting student success!
