Position Summary:
The Interlibrary Loan and Reserves Librarian oversees the interlibrary lending and borrowing and course reserves operations. The librarian develops policies, procedures and workflows for the interlibrary loan and reserves operations including copyright compliance and routine statistical reporting. The Interlibrary Loan and Reserves Librarian manages and leads a team of 5 full time employees, assesses existing operations and implements new services in order to meet the University's research, teaching, and learning needs. The incumbent will:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage interlibrary lending and borrowing, MOBIUS INN-Reach, and course reserves operations including copyright compliance and routine statistical reporting.
- Provide effective and timely supervision of staff including training, career development, and performance management.
- Develop policies, procedures and workflows to achieve greater efficiencies in operations and to improve customer service. Conduct periodic assessment of policies and services and implement new services to satisfy customer needs.
- Assist customers with a wide variety of research questions including interpreting and explaining policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited school or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills including the ability to coach a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze problems and determine solutions.
- Ability to work effectively in a collegial manner in a changing environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ILLiad or comparable interlibrary loan management systems
- Knowledge of ILL and reserves copyright issues
- Experience with integrated library systems; familiarity with Innovative Interfaces desirable
- Experience with course management systems. Familiarity with Ares and/or Canvas desirable
