General Summary
Provision of direct primary and follow-up services to sexual assault patients that have been provided medical-forensic services by WC SAFE. Provide oversight and implementation of day-to-day administration and medical-forensic operation of the WC SAFE Wellness Center. Assist in development and implementation of growth of clinic to include Non-Strangulation Evaluation in domestic violence patients, as well as work to further expand forensic nursing services.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the planning, development, delivery, expansion and evaluation of agency services as it relates to the Wellness Center services.
- Ensure the development, maintenance, and monitoring of professional standards and practices in all aspects of the Wellness Center and its functions. Implement programmatic services to patients that access the Wellness Center for follow up after the trauma of sexual violence.
- Ensure extensive and positive agency visibility in the community through participation in appropriate community task forces, planning groups, and association at local, state, and national level as needed.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and administrative team in executing the agency Strategic Plan
- Available for on-call consultation with WC SAFE staff regarding Wellness Clinic services and be available as needed for consultations, hotline triage, case management, personal & legal advocacy.
- Staff the wellness clinic and collaborate with SAFE Program Co-Director around scheduling
- Provide on-call as scheduled
- Perform regular peer chart review
- Participate in our community's SART - WC SAC
- Provide community awareness presentations
- Complete all grant statistics and reports as required.
- Utilize FeMR (our EMR) for all patient documentation
- Attend monthly staff meetings as scheduled by the Executive Director
- Collaborate effectively with Detroit Health Department and other community clinics & service providers in the coordination of care for victims of sexual assault.
- Establish and monitor appropriate referral agencies/individual to obtain additional needed services for survivors on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure patient records are up to date, complete, and accurate; as well maintain the integrity of confidentiality and protection of client rights, as WC SAFE policy dictates.
- Provide leadership for the development and promotion of trauma awareness to promote trauma informed and strength-based approaches in a clinical setting.
- Assist with agency-wide activities such as volunteer training and community awareness of services.
- Perform other duties as requested per the Executive Director
Requirements
- Must be SANE-A certified and/or have Master's in Forensic Nursing, NP, or PA and maintain ongoing licensure requirements in Michigan. Experience with sexual assault patients is required.
- Critical thinking skills are essential to this position.
- Must also have the ability to work independently.
