Assistant General Counsel
WellSpan Health is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join its legal team. WellSpan Health is a growing, integrated, not-for-profit health system located in South Central Pennsylvania consisting of 8 hospitals, 19,000 employees a large (approximately 1500) employed provider medical group, and more than 170 patient care locations. WellSpan offers a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel assumes increasing responsibility for providing legal guidance and support for various WellSpan Health entities related to issues including, but not limited to, compliance with state and federal health care laws and regulations, contract negotiation/drafting/review, business transactions, employment matters, corporate governance, HIPAA, privacy and security, patient care issues, policy development and review, medical staff matters, real estate, payor contracting and population health, risk, and graduate medical education. The Assistant General Counsel will work regularly with senior management and key administrators and will assume primary responsibility for identified subject matters and/or entities.
Required Skills
- License to practice law in PA or able to obtain license within one year.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills.
- Careful attention to detail.
Required Experience
- 5 or more years healthcare law experience; preferably as in-house counsel or broad-based outside hospital counsel experience preferred.
- A seasoned professional knowledgeable in the areas of fraud and abuse, CMS and DOH regulations, human resources, contracting, risk, and business transactions.
