State Agency Counsel
The State Agency Counsel Division of the Utah Attorney General's Office has an opening for a working level attorney position, with at least 5 years of experience. Incumbent will provide full time representation for the Utah Labor Commission Uninsured Employer's Fund and Industrial Accidents Division. Litigation and courtroom experience required, administrative law experience desired, and familiarity with workman's compensation and representation of state agencies preferred. Successful candidate will have experience with or ability to handle a high volume administrative and/or litigation caseload, as well as the ability to triage and move cases forward.
Successful applicant must have excellent case management skills, as well as the ability to build rapport and work cooperatively with client agency representatives. Successful applicant will have demonstrated ability to: learn, interpret, and apply civil and administrative laws related to industrial accidents and workers' compensation; to represent the State in matters relating to penalties against uninsured businesses; to successfully participate in client trainings, meetings with opposing counsel, administrative and court hearings, and mediation. Current membership in the Utah State Bar in good standing is required.
Some travel may be required as incumbent will need to represent their client in civil litigation and other legal proceedings throughout the State.
