Part-Time Program and Legal Assistant
Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking a friendly and organized part-time Program & Legal Assistant to perform administrative duties to support WRA's mission and the smooth functioning of WRA's Phoenix office. This position is ideally suited for someone with experience as an administrative or legal assistant and who is passionate about protection of the natural environment. The Program & Legal Assistant will report to WRA's Clean Energy Program Staff Attorney.
Job Responsibilities
- Assisting WRA Clean Energy Program staff and experts by providing legal and general office support.
- Assisting with preparation of reports, studies, litigation/docket files and binders; locating and preparing exhibits; filing documents with agencies and/or courts; and tracking case dockets.
- Drafting, copying and filing pleadings.
- Keeping office organized via mail intake, filing, managing dockets and cases, and updating case logs.
- Scheduling meetings and calendaring events.
- Office management (ordering or purchasing office supplies, assuring offices are maintained, mailing packages, coordinating IT-related repairs, etc.)
- Preparing and reconciling monthly expense reports and reimbursement claims.
- Providing reception and phone answering.
- Making or assisting in travel arrangements on behalf of staff.
- Other tasks as assigned, including providing occasional support onboarding new staff in WRA's Phoenix office and coordinating with other administrative staff across WRA's regional offices.
Qualifications
- Administrative office and/or legal assistant experience.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage a deadline-driven docket of regulatory litigation.
- Strong communication, writing and editing skills.
- Proficiency with computers and general office equipment; mastery of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Passion for conserving and protecting our natural environment.
Salary and Benefits
Part-time for 20 hours per week at $15.86-$21.00 per hour, based on relative experience. Benefits: generous vacation leave, sick leave, paid holidays, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, and paid sabbatical leave after 5 years. This is a non-exempt position.
